Do You Need Money?

Written by:  Ben Clark

Is your ministry struggling? Is your church building falling apart? Wouldn't you rather your church building fall apart, then for you, the temple of the Holy Spirit, to fall apart? Do you want more money because the church, that you seen down the road, is bigger and more expensive-looking than yours? Or maybe you just don't have enough money in your bank … will you ever?

And you think money can fix these problems that you're having? For 30 pieces of silver, Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus (Matthew 26:15). Money creates problems … Jesus fixes them.

1 Timothy 6:10
"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

Matthew 7:9-11
"Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?" (9)
"Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?" (10)
"If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" (11)

If you are, unknowingly, praying to God for a "serpent"…He is not going to give you a serpent. Your prayer might be "Lord I really need this new car, please let me get a new car". The Lord knows what's best for you and if you are asking for a "serpent" …. He will not give it to you because He loves you and wants the best for you. What kind of Dad would give their son/daughter something that they knew wasn't good for them.

Why don't you look at Jesus and follow after Him, instead of these people that seek after money. Look at what you do have. If you have Jesus, than you have everything you need. Jesus didn't need or use money to feed 5,000 people (Mark 6:30-44).

Why are you asking people to provide for you when God is the Creator of all things? (1 Corinthians 10:26), "For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof."

Proverbs 13:14
"There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."

Proverbs 19:21
"There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand."

Seek GOD'S WILL and NOT YOURS!

Do you trust in money more than Jesus? Than why are you asking people for money so that way you can do "this or that"? Why not trust and ask Jesus to provide for you according to HIS will and not YOURS! Money provides you only a limited amount of things, but JESUS PROVIDES EVERYTHING YOU NEED!! Money doesn't put food on the table. I've never seen it grow arms and legs and put food on the table. Money only provides you the food. But what can money do that God can't? Wouldn't you rather rely on God than on a piece of paper?

Are you one of those people that Ask the Lord?

  • "Jesus please give me money to feed my family."
  • "Lord I need some money because my church building is falling apart."

How about your congregation? How are they doing? Are they also, spiritually, falling apart? Why not ask the Lord to work on them and in their hearts, instead of your building. And is your family going to eat money? People eat food, not money. Why are you asking God for money and not for food?

Luke 12:22-31
"And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on." (22)
"The Life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment." (23)
"Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?" (24)
"And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?" (25)
"If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?" (26)
"Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." (27)
"If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?" (28)
"And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind." (29)
"For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things." (30)
"But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you." (31)

2 Corinthians 4:18
"While we look NOT at the things which are seen, but at the things which are NOT seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which a re NOT seen are eternal."

Things of this world are temporary. The kingdom of heaven and its riches are everlasting. Do not forget… Hell is also everlasting.

So do what it says in Matthew 6:19-21:

"Lay not up for yourselves treasure upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:" (19)
"But lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:" (20)
"For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (21)

Are you one of those people that are looking for Pastors/Preachers to tell you what YOU want to hear? Example: Prosperity, lots of money, and all this no matter how you live your life, and Etc. Jesus gave specific words for us about these types of pastors/preachers … Matthew 16:6, "…Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees."

Jesus was saying beware of their teachings … Matthew 16:12, "Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees."

Matthew 5:20
"For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven."

Which means your going to hell.

Why are you even going to church if all you want to hear is "everything is going to be okay … everyone will be blessed with lots of money and you can do whatever you want and you will be happy and be blessed." Why don't you just write that down on a piece of paper and read it each Sunday, instead of searching for pastors to make you feel better by deceiving you and saying that your life of sinful desires are okay. But it's your choice. How are you going to "sow" sin and reap eternal life?

Galatians 6:7
"Be NOT deceived; God is NOT mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

Galatians 6:8

"For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."

Do you love money more than Jesus? You can say whatever you want but God looks at our hearts.

1 Samuel 16:7
"…for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."

And last don't forget to read this…

Matthew 7:26-27
"And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them NOT, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:" (26)
"And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it." (27)
