Our Spiritual Offensive Weapons

John Siefker

The weapons that the Lord has given to us are not carnal, they are spiritual. It says in 2 Corinthians 10:4, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds."

We have two different types of weapons. The one type of weapons is used to fight against the enemy with and the other type of weapons is used to protect us from the attacks of the enemy.

Here are some of our spiritual offensive weapons that I saw in the "Weapons Room" that we have at our disposal to use to fight against the enemy with.

Our Tongues

Our tongue is an organ for which we use for speaking with. It is a very dangerous and deadly weapon that we have. We have control over it and how we used it. We must use it wisely and with great caution.

Proverbs 15:4 says, "A wholesome tongue is a tree of life…"

Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue…"

Our tongue is a very powerful weapon that can be used to bring "life or death." We must really watch what we speak over others and over ourselves. We want to use it to bring death to the enemy and all of his works. On the other hand, we want to use it to bring life to the things that are of the Lord.

Isaiah 41:15 says, "Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shall thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and make the hills as chaff."

A threshing instrument is a sharp pointed object. Our tongue is an object like that. The Lord said that with this instrument, we would destroy the mountains (obstacles) of the enemy. These mountains of the enemy are: "obstacles, doubt and unbelief."

Our tongue is also symbolic of: "a sword or knife and a bow to shoot or launch things with."

Sword or Knife

Psalm 52:2 says, "Thy tongue … like a sharp razor..."

Psalm 57:4 says, "…Their tongue a sharp sword."

In these verses of scripture, we see that our tongue is like a sharp sword or other cutting instrument. A sword is used for fighting with and it is used to inflict injury and even bring death.

A sword is like a knife. In the hands of a skillful doctor, the knife is used to remove things that are dead or unhealthy to us so that way healing can come.

Bow

Psalm 64:3 says, "…Their tongue … bend their bows to shoot their arrows…"

Jeremiah 9:3, 8 says, (3) "And they bend their tongues like their bow…" (8) "Their tongue is as an arrow shot out…"

These verses tell us that our tongue is a bow that is used to shoot arrows with. In order for a bow to launch a projectile it is required to have some power and strength in it. Just as the Lord said in His Word there is power in the tongue to do just that.

Brazen Bow

A person that has trained his tongue and watches how he uses it, now has an upgraded weapon. A brazen bow is a learned or trained tongue. It now becomes even more deadly to the enemy.

Job 20:24 says, "…The bow of steel shall strike him through."

A bow made out of bronze or steel is more powerful than one that is made from wood. A wooden bow is a tongue that has not been trained.

Isaiah 50:4 says, "The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary…"

Daniel was telling us that the Lord had given to him a learned tongue. The Lord helped Daniel to understand the importance of controlling and training his tongue. Then he would be able to help others with it.

Our Words - Arrows

Words are things that we don't have a shortage of. They are a powerful offensive weapon that we have in our spiritual arsenal. They can be used to bind and strike the enemy with.

They can also be used to encourage ourselves and others with. Words can be used to bring death to the enemy and they can be used to bring life to ourselves and others.

Psalm 64:3 says, "…And bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words."

We see in that our words are arrows. Our tongue is the bow that is used to shoot these arrows. The words that we speak can bring injury and wounds to the enemy that we are fighting against.

Proverbs 18:8 says, "The words of a talebearer (whisperer) are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly."

Our words (arrows) go into a person being and they cause injury. The inner most part of the belly is talking about our spirit man. This verse shows us that our words are spiritual weapons which we can use to fight the enemy with in spiritual warfare.

Matthew 12:37 says, "For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."

Jesus is telling and showing us that our words are very powerful. So let us be careful and watch the words that we speak.

The Word of Our Testimony

The word of our testimony is a very powerful offensive weapon that we have. If we could really understand this, we would testify to those around us all the time. This is one of our spiritual weapons that the devil has tried to hide from us. This is very dangerous to him.

Revelations 12:11 says, "And they overcame him…by the word of their testimony…"

When we testify about what the Lord has done for us, we overcome the enemy. What we overcome of the enemy is the "fear, doubt, and unbelief" that he tries to get us with. The enemy doesn't like it when we share with others about all the things that the Lord has done for us.

Testifying gives glory to the Lord for what He has done. It also creates an atmosphere for the same or similar things to happen as well. For example, when you testify about a healing or miracle that you have received, it creates and brings back that same spiritual atmosphere for other to receive their healing or for them to receive their miracle that they need.

By testifying, it also releases your faith and it builds the faith of the people hearing about it. They will say to themselves "If the Lord did that for him, He will do it for me." All kinds of things can happen when we share about what He has done for us. Try it sometime and see what the Lord will do.

Here Are Some Things That Happen When We Testify

  • Gives glory to the Lord
  • Releases His glory into the earth
  • Builds our and others faith - Faith level goes up
  • Changes the spiritual atmosphere around us
  • Others can receive salvation, healing, and miracles

It also does this:

It breaks the chains of fear, doubt, and unbelief that satan uses to keep others bound and it keeps them from receiving things from the Lord.

The enemy knows what will happen when we testify, so he tries to stop us by making us afraid to share to others. He tries to tell us that it is no big deal and that it is not worth sharing. But it is a really big deal and it is very important.

So let us share with others about all the things that the Lord has done for us, on a daily basis. It doesn't matter how small of a thing it is, just share it with someone.

The Blood of Jesus

Revelations 12:11 says, "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb…"

1 John1:7 says, "…The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth (frees) us from all sin."

Hebrew 2:14 says, "…That through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil."

1 John 3:8 says, "…That He (Jesus) might destroy the works of the devil."

In all these verses of scripture tells us that it is by His precious blood that He has "cleansed us, set us free, and destroyed the devil and all his works."

Jesus' blood is a powerful weapon that the devil can't stand because it has completely destroyed him. Jesus' blood is all powerful! His blood is not a band-aid that is used to cover something up. It completely wipes out everything that is of the enemy.

It is by the precious blood of Jesus Christ that we overcome the enemy, in Revelations 12:11. Ever since we became His children, His blood is in our DNA.

Sword of the Spirit

Ephesians 6:17 says, "…And the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God."

Hebrews 4:12 says, "The Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword…"

The Word of God is another one of our offensive weapons that is quick and powerful. With His Word we can easily defeat the enemy. The enemy knows that His Word is true and that the Lord always backs up His Word.

When we speak the Word of God from our mouths it is a spiritual sword with which we can defeat the enemy with, over and over again.

The Mighty Name of Jesus

Mark 16:17-18 says, (17) "…In My Name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues." (18) "They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay their hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

Jesus said here in Mark 16:17-18, "…In My Name shall they cast out devils; (in My Name) they shall speak with new tongues. (In My Name)They shall take up serpents; and (in My Name) if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; (in My Name) they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

The Name of Jesus is a very powerful weapon and we have a right to use it as His children. We are to do everything in His Name.

Philippians 2:9-10 says, (9) "Wherefore God also highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name." (10) "That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth."

The enemy has to yield to the Almighty Name of Jesus. There is nothing that can stand up to that Name. Every time the enemy hears that Name, he trembles.

Shouts of Praise, Singing & Worship

2 Chronicles 20:21-22 says, (21) "And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth forever." (22) "And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children…and they were smitten."

Worship and singing praises to the Lord is another weapon that we have and the enemy does not like it. The devil knows that when we sing unto the Lord that it dispels the fear that he fights us with. He also knows that the Lord and all the host of heaven are on our side.

1 Samuel 4:5-7 says, (5) "And when the ark of the covenant of the Lord came into camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth rang again." (6) "And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, What meaneth the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews?..." (7) "And the Philistines were afraid…"

Joshua 6:4-5 says, (4) "And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets." (5) "And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the rams' horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the walls of the city shall fall down flat…"

Shouting strikes fear in the heart of the enemy. When the devil hears these sounds, he knows that he is about to be defeated. It is the vibrations of our shouting that breaks the walls of his attack against us. They just crumble and fall down.

We also read in Judges 7:15-23, how Gideon's army blew their trumpets and shouted "The sword of the Lord and of Gideon." The enemy's armies were afraid and confused, and they were destroyed.

The enemy becomes afraid when he hears the Father's children in worship, singing praises and shouting to the Lord. These sounds terrify the devil and his armies.

The Anointing

The anointing of the Holy Spirit is one of our secret weapons of spiritual warfare. Many of us never understand what the anointing is and what it does.

Isaiah 10:27 says, "And it shall come to pass in that day (today), that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing."

The words "in that day" in this verse of scripture the Lord was talking about the day of Jesus' death, His Resurrection, and Him being seated at the right hand of the Father. That was the day and time until now (that's today) when the Lord Jesus broke the power of the devil.

The "yoke" is whatever the enemy binds you with or puts on you. It can be sickness, diseases, habits, addictions, fear, depression, poverty, and many other things that are not of the Lord.

The anointing of the Holy Spirit breaks all the chains of bondage and completely destroys it. The anointing in and on your life that you walk in destroys these chains of the enemy, even as you minister to others.

The anointing on your life is for the benefit of the people. It says in Matthew 10:8, "…Freely ye have received, freely give." You will never be able to give it away quick enough because as you use it, the anointing increases and flows like a river.

Our Light

Our light which is Jesus Christ in us is another weapon for our spiritual warfare against the enemy.

Matthew 5:14 says, "Ye are the light of the world…"

John 1:4-5 says, (4) "In Him was life; and the life was the light of men." (5) "And the light shineth in darkness…"

We are the light of the world and Jesus is that light in us that shines to those around us. We know that light chases the darkness away when we turn on a light. Light reveals the enemy.

Darkness is symbolic of "spiritual blindness or ignorance." Also in His Word the Lord referred to satan's kingdom as darkness. Revelations 16:10 says, "…and his kingdom is full of darkness."

Light is symbolic of "Jesus, who is in us and He is that light that radiates through us, also it is revelation. Revelation is something that has been made known to us and we have an understanding of it now.

John 3:20 says, "For everyone that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved."

The enemy doesn't like to have light around because it exposes his plans and lies that he uses against us. He will try to do anything to put the light out.

The Holy Spirit

The precious Holy Spirit helps us (Romans 8:26). He helps us in every area that we will allow Him too. The Holy Spirit reveals and shows us things to come (John 16:13). This even includes the plans of the enemy.

The Holy Spirit gives us the right words to speak (Mark 13:11). The Holy Spirit also empowers us (Acts 1:8). With the power of the Holy Spirit that is in us, on us, and has been given to us, we now can do His work for the Kingdom of God.

Isaiah 59:19 says, "…When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.

The Holy Spirit helps us fight against the enemy. He is always the greatest factor in all that we do for the Lord and He increases the odds in our favor in our fight against the enemy. He is ready and will help us if we ask Him to.

His Promise to Us

Joshua 23:10 says, "One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the Lord your God, He it is that fighteth for you, as He hath promised you."

Here in His Word is a wonderful promise from the Lord that He will fight against the enemy for us. We know that He will be always there to help us.

He Fights For His People

In Joshua 23:3 it says, "…For the Lord your God is He that hath fought for you."

In Joshua 10:1-42, we have the account of Joshua and the children of Israel facing the armies of five kings. In the natural it didn't look good but we see how the Lord fought for His people and their enemies were defeated.

Judges 14:19 & 15:14-15 says, (14:19) "And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him (Samson), and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them…"
(15:14) "…The Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him…" (15:15) "And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith."

In these verses of scripture, the Holy Spirit came upon Samson and helped him to kill a great number of the enemy. This is not possible in our own strength but with Him all this are possible.

Angels

Exodus 33:2 says, "And I will send an angel before thee, and I will drive out…"

The Lord sent an angel to drive out the enemies of His children that were in the land that He had given to them. This still happens for us today.

2 Kings 19:35 says, "And it came to pass that night that the angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand…"

2 Chronicles 32:21 says, "And the Lord sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valor, and the leaders and captains…"

We see in these verses just how powerful and mighty one angel of the Lord is. This one angel slew 185,000 of the Assyrian army in the night. This is what the Lord will do for us in our fight against the enemy with His angels.

Psalm 35:5-6 says, (5) "Let them (our enemies) be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the Lord chase them." (6) "…Let the angel of the Lord persecute them."

Satan and his army of darkness do not have a chance with the Lord on our side. But he will still try to attack us and try to take us out until the end of time.

The Fire of God

Psalm 97:3 says, "A fire goeth before him and burneth up his enemies round about."

The fire of God burns up and destroys the enemy. The enemy has no chance against this awesome and powerful weapon.

Deuteronomy 9:3 says, "…The Lord thy God is He which goeth before thee; as a consuming fire He shall destroy them (the enemy), and He shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly…"

Habakkuk 3:5 says, "Before Him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at His feet."

Before the Lord the works of satan are destroyed. As it says in Hebrews 12:29, our God is a consuming fire. No enemy or thing that is not of Him can stand.

In 2 Kings 1:9-15, we have the account of Elijah and the two bands of fifty men that king Ahaziah sent unto him. The fire of God came down and consumed the men of king Ahaziah that came to get him.

Prayer

Prayer is powerful and it has awesome range. The enemy hates it when we pray because the Lord gets involved (Matthew 18:20).

Psalm 107:13-14 says, (13) "Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses." (14) "He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder."

No matter what the size of the problem is that the enemy uses to attack us with, when we ask the Lord for His help, He breaks the attack of the enemy and saves us.

In Jeremiah 29:12 & 33:3, the Lord tells us that if we call unto Him, He will hear us and He will answer us. We should always ask the Lord for help in everything that we do, that way the enemy never has a chance.

Speaking in Tongues & Praying in the Spirit

Praying in the Spirit and speaking in tongues are two awesome and powerful weapons that we have to use in our fight with the enemy.

The hidden power of speaking in tongues and praying in the Spirit are what allows us to touch the very heart and mind of the Father to move heaven and earth in response to our prayers.

1 Corinthians 14:2 says, "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth…"

When we speak or pray this way to the Father, only He knows and understands what we are saying. The other thing is that we don't know what or how we should pray for things as we ought (Romans 8:26).

Ephesians 6:18 says, "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit…"

We are told in His Word that we are to pray always and it is important because when we do, many things happen.

Here are some of the things that happens when we pray in the Spirit and when we speak in tongues.

  • It releases the glory of God into the earth.
  • It changes the spiritual atmosphere around us.
  • It is the key to unlocking the power of God that is within us.
  • It brings us in unity with what the Lord is doing and with heaven.
  • That is why the Lord said "open thy mouth and I will fill it." - Psalm 81:10  He will fill it with the living water that is springing up from within us. - John 4:14
  • It breaks the power of the enemy to keep us quiet when we don't know what to speak or pray.
  • It is our secret code of talking to the Father that the enemy cannot understand. So he is confused and doesn't know what to do, to stop us or try to hinder us.
  • The Holy Spirit is there with us making intercession to the Father - Romans 8:26-27
  • We keep the commandment of the Lord - 1 Corinthians 14:15, 37
  • We build up ourselves - 1 Corinthians 14:4
  • We convey the wondrous acts of God - Acts 2:11b
  • We build up and increase our faith - Jude 20
  • We are offering up a perfect prayer to the Lord - Romans 8:16-17
  • We pray for things that is beyond our knowledge and comprehension - Romans 8:26
  • It causes us to line up our spirit with the Holy Spirit - Romans 8:16-17
  • Is a holy instrument given by the Lord for rest and refreshing to all believers - Isaiah 28:11-12
  • It causes our inner man to be strengthened - Ephesians 3:16
  • It is a sign to the world that we know Him - Mark 16:17; 1 Corinthians 14:22
  • We speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, that the Holy Spirit will reveal - 1 Corinthians 2:7; 14:2

The enemy doesn't want us or like it when we speak in tongues and pray in the Spirit, because he knows what all happens and how dangerous it is to him. He would like to keep this hidden from us.

Paul had a revelation from the Lord and knew the importance of speaking in tongues and praying in the Spirit (1 Corinthians 14:18).

Agreement

In order for two or more people to do something together, there has to be an agreeing on which means that there is unity. The enemy knows this is a powerful weapon that we have and does not want us to use it.

Deuteronomy 32:30 says, "…One chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight…"

Ecclesiastes 4:9, 12 says, (9) "Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour." (12) "And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him…"

Matthew 18:19-20 says, (19) "Again, I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of My Father which is in heaven." (20) "For where two or three are gathered together in My Name, there am I in the midst of them."

Do we truly comprehend the magnitude of what is offered to us? Other than the Lord Himself, no power or principality in either the natural or the spiritual can match the power of His people when they are united in corporate prayer.

Corporate prayer is one of the greatest weapons in our spiritual arsenal that we have. The Lord is there with us and in agreement with us. This is why the things that we ask the Father for in Jesus' Name "shall" happen.

The Holy Spirit brings harmony (unity) when we are agreeing and coming together. The devil literally shakes in his boots!

We see what happens in Acts 12:1-17, when the believers prayed for Peter in jail. An angel from the Lord set Peter free from the enemy. This was an answer and the result to their corporate prayer.

The enemy cannot stand against the assault of the God's people praying with one accord in the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Faith

Faith is a tremendous weapon that we have. Our faith in Him and in what He said breaks off the chains of doubt and unbelief of the enemy that he uses to attack us with.

Hebrew 11:1 says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

Faith is spiritual substance which we use to walk out and to do something with in the natural. Faith is like our muscles that we use in the natural but it is spiritual. The more we use our faith the stronger and bigger it grows.

Hebrews 11:33-35 says, (33) "Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions." (34) "Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiantly in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens (enemies)." (35) "Women received their dead raised to life again…"

In these verses of scripture, we see how the children of God in times past have defeated their enemies with their faith. Much can be accomplished with a little faith. This is still true for us believers today.

1 John 5:4 says, "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."

It is by our faith which the Lord has given to us that we overcome and have the victory over the enemy. We really don't comprehend and understand how much power there really is in our faith.

Here are some things that faith does.

  • It opens doors, of the impossible - Mark 9:23
  • Faith is the connector to the power of God for seeing things happen in the natural
  • It is the key to unlocking the power of God that is within us
  • It can move mountains and obstacles that the enemy puts in front of us - Matthew 17:20; Mark 11:22-23
  • Defeats the doubt and unbelief that the enemy fights us with - Ephesians 6:16
  • We receive the promises of God by it - Hebrews 11:33
  • Healings and miracles happen by it - Matthew 17:18-20; 21:21-22; Mark 9:23; 11:23-24

All of these things are a result of us using our faith and taking action. The enemy hates it when we act upon God's Word in faith and we do something because he knows that he will be defeated. He knows the power of faith and what it will do.

Forgiving

Forgiving is another weapon that we have in our arsenal. It is very important that we forgive others because it affects not only us but others as well. The enemy uses the actions and words (arrows) of others around us, to try to hurt and wound us.

Satan knows that if he can hurt us with an action or word that there will always be a reaction to it. The reaction that comes from us will depend on whether or not we have our armor on and if we are being like Jesus. If we are walking according to His Word in our lives the reaction will be the opposite of what the enemy wanted from us.

To forgive means: to release, let go. When we forgive others, it releases them.

Romans 12:17, 19-21 says, (17) "Recompense to no man evil for evil…" (19) "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." (20) "Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him a drink: for in doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head." (21) "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."

Two wrongs don't make a right! The Lord is the One who will bring justice in every situation if we do as He has told us. By us forgiving, we defeat the enemy's plan that he tries so often to get us with. It backfires on him.

Matthew 6:14-15 says, (14) "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you." (15) "But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your heavenly Father forgive your trespasses."

We must forgive others of their wrong doings that they have done to us, if we are to be forgiven of our Father for the things that we have done. This is very important to us because of the results that it brings.

Romans 12:14 says, "Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not."

1 Peter 3:9 says, "Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing."

In our forgiving others, we are also to bless them that have attacked us with their words or actions. We are to do the opposite of what the enemy uses to attack us with, to reverse it.

Blessings others that have cursed or attacked us with words changes the results of what was intended. Those arrows (words) don't penetrate our armor and wound us.

Luke 23:34 says, "Then Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do…"

Jesus forgave the people that brought harm to Him and asked the Father to forgive them as well. They didn't know and even realize that the enemy was using them to do his work. The enemy uses people all the time and many of them don't even know it. We are to see the source of were it is coming from and realize that those people are being used.

As our precious Lord did for His accusers, let us do the same unto others.

Here are three reasons why we are to forgive and bless those that persecute us.

  • (1) The Lord commanded us to do it in accordance with His Word.
  • (2) We will be forgiven of our wrongs.
  • (3) We will also receive a blessing back.

The results of us forgiving and bless others is tremendous. The people we forgive and bless benefit from it but we benefit even more.

Love

Charity means love. Love is a powerful weapon and we should use it and walk in it all the time. In loving others, we are a reflection of Jesus Christ.

Song of Solomon 8:6-7 says, (6) "…For love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame." (7) "Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it…"

We see how powerful love is in these verses. It is so strong that nothing from the enemy can stop or contain it.

1 John 4:18 says, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment…"

Fear is from the enemy. Fear is a powerful weapon that satan uses against us. He uses it to keep us from doing anything. Satan wants to bind us with fear; that way we are afraid to step out and do what the Lord wants us to do.

Our love for the Lord and obeying His Word, breaks and destroys the fear that the enemy attacks us with.

Leviticus 19:18 says, "Thou shalt not avenge, not bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the Lord."

We see and know from this verse that the enemy wants us to get revenge and hold grudges. This is a trap that will bring us pain and opens the door for more attacks from the enemy.

Luke 6:27-28, 35 says, (27) 'But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you." (28) "Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you." (35) "But love ye your enemies, and do good…your reward shall be great…"

The Lord tells us to love and bless those that come at us and to do right things to them. In doing this we show them the love of Christ. It also reverses the end results that the enemy doesn't want or like. Matthew 5:44-45 is also another passage of scripture that refers to the same thing.

1 Corinthians 16:14 says, "Let all your things be done with charity (love)."

Here are six reasons why we are to love others.

  • (1) The Lord commanded us to do it in His Word - Matthew 23:37-40; Mark 12:29-31

  • (2) Perfect love casteth (driveth) out fear - 1 John 4:18

  • (3) By it all men will know that you are Jesus' disciples - John 13:34-35

  • (4) Love is important because God is love - 1 John 4:7-12

  • (5) Without love, we are nothing - 1 Corinthians 13:2

  • (6) Love shall cover a multitude of sins - 1 Peter 4:8

Jeremiah 51:20-21, 23 says, (20) "Thou art My battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms." (21) "And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider." (23) "…And with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers."

We are the battle axe of the Lord, to be used by Him to destroy the enemy.

It is time to fight with all that the Lord has given to us!
